From its roots in rye and the birth of bourbon to Prohibition’s influence and the later developments in distillation and aging, American whiskey has a fascinating history. Learn about classic and modern distillation and the ‘distiller’s cut’ while sampling a variety of American whiskeys to learn how to recognize grain flavor, aging nuances, and the difference between heads, hearts, and tails. This class will train your whiskey palette…and teach whiskey facts that will impress your dad (or mom).

Distilling Workshops

We have compiled a program for future distillers and those with some experience. We are going to cover everything from fruit selection, mashing, and the actual distillation process to the legal aspects of starting a distillery in North America. Robert Birnecker and Dr. Sonat Birnecker Hart will be giving insights into the practice of distilling and starting a distillery.
